Pitch feedback

All of age ranges 17-18 years old.
Male and Female

Positives:
"You have the space to be creative"
"Good song choice and inspiration"
"Some interesting location ideas and interesting band name"
"Good styling ideas and song choice" x2
"Ideas match the styling"
"Ideas match the genre" x3
"Well thought out idea"

Negatives:
"Rooftop shots may be difficult due to lighting and security issues"
"Security issues when filming on rooftop" x6

"May need a back up location if rooftop shots are not possible"

From looking at our feedback we have decided to ignore "you have space to be creative". We will ignore this because we feel that this is giving us no information on how to improve or adapt our music video.

As we have had a lot of negative feedback about how taking rooftop shots will be difficult. This has made us change our minds about our filming location as we do not want to put stress on our selves about finding a suitable rooftop, also we do not want to get in trouble with the police or security.  As a result of this we have looked at new locations.

Audience profile

UK TRIBES
I believe this tribe best represents our target audience.
Stylers
The lifestyle of stylers is all about partying, looking good and staying cool.
Stylers hold a strong possion in the UK tribes map - innately cool and stylish, the rising influence of Urban fashion and music have made them a hugely aspirational Tribe for youth today. As luxe sportswear and Urban high fashion has hit the Aspirants, more young people than ever before are looking like a Styler and aspiring to their luxury lifestyle.

Biography

Band members: Josh Ballard, George Anderton, Jack Astill, Cam Quinn

We have decided to call out band "1 Second Riot". We think this is a good name because it follows the names of other indie rock bands like Kasabian, Oasis. We are going to follow that sort of music too and style the same as indie rock bands. We came up with the name because it is catchy and we thought that it would bring a message to our fans because the riot portrays how we want our shows to be.

We have got a lead singer who is Jack Astill, Cam Quinn on guitar, George on bass and Josh Ballard on the drums.

We came together when we was all 12 years old we started off in Jack's dads garage playing everyday then we came across a band tournament where the winner got to play on the BBC introducing stage at  Leeds festival. From there we got a bit bigger and started playing bigger gigs at O2 academy's across the country. We then released our first album which sold 30,000 records. Since then we have performed at bigger venues and are touring with Kasabian in the coming year.

After we finish the tour with Kasabian we plan on releasing our second album and hopefully playing at more festivals and hopefully getting some headline sports at different festivals.

Our dream is to headline Sunday night at Glastonbury one year in front of the 175,000 people.

Examples of texts

I looked deeply into different text styles that indie rock bands use on their albums, merchandise, logos etc. These were bands such as Kasabian, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Gorillas. The text examples above are ones that caught my eye, and that i shortlisted to use for our text style. I chose these because they fit with the genre, indie rock, as they are very bold and striking; these are good because they catch the audiences eyes very easily, this is very important to do, as you want the audiences to be attracted to the band. My favourite example is the Bad Caligula, as it has a rough look to it which stood out to my eye as it suits the indie rock style.

Props for preliminary music video

For our preliminary music video we recreated, Mens Needs by The cribs. In this music video there is a lot of props used that we also tried to use in ours. These included:
o  Clothes / scarfs
o  Drums
o  Guitars
o  Microphones
o  Tin of beans
o  Iron and ironing table
o  Wig
o  Knife
o  Apple
o  Bean bag
o  Book

Some of these very very difficult to get hold of therefore we adapted a bit and swapped some props around, for example we swapped a bean bag for a bag of books and a blanket.

Song choice

Our song choice is: eez-eh by Kasabian.
For a start, we chose this song as a group because we all like the band Kasabian and felt that it would give us a great advantage when creating a music video, as we understand the rhythm and beat and enjoy their style of music. We looked in-dept at our shortlist and we all agreed that eez-eh is the more up beat and energetic song out of the five listed. As a result of that we wanted to use this song because we feel that we have some great ideas for the music video that will be very vibrant.

Shortlist five potential songs

These are five songs we have shortlisted. We have chosen these songs because they are ones we all listen to and like, which we feel is a big positive to us when think of ideas for the video. When discussing song ideas we came to a conclusion that we should pick a song sung by a band, this is becuase there is four of us in the group which would give us all and equal role.

Kasabian - Eez-eh
Oasis - Rock & Roll Star
Arctic Monkeys - When the sun goes down
Gorilla - Feel Good
Kings of Leon - Sex of fire

Week 2 28th August - 3rd September

During this week we have been working very hard in the build up to the final music video. This week, as part of the research process, i have found and analysed three narrative music videos. This gives us a great understanding on the conventions that need to be in a narrative music video. We also do the same process but for three performance and 3 disjunctive music videos. After this exercise i then found four other examples of music videos that caught my eye.
